What is Medium Running?
There's no single training method that's right for every runner — or even right for the same runner all the time. At Medium Running we believe in certain fundamentals, like 80/20, race-specificity, and a careful emphasis on consistent aerobic development, but the real work of coaching is figuring out how those principles apply to you: your background, your personality, and the busy professional and personal life you're actually living. My coaching isn't about fitting you into a system. It's about helping your running exist within your life in a way that makes both better — so you're running your best, living your best, and genuinely loving the process. That's the happy medium.
Head Coach
Matt Campbell
Matt is a physician and competitive distance runner who founded Medium Running on a simple belief: there's no single right way to train. The right approach depends on who you are, where you're starting from, and the life you're actually living — and it can change over time. Matt coaches adult runners of every background and pace, drawing on both a medical career and years of high-level racing to help each athlete find the training that fits their life, not the other way around. The goal isn't just a faster finish time — it's a runner who's performing well, living well, and genuinely enjoying the process. That's the happy medium.
